I bought this gate after reading reviews online for weeks. I have it only for a couple of months, but it looks well built and does not have obviously weak parts to break in the near future.
I have two doorways between the living room and the kitchen. I first bought an auto-close gate of another popular brand, it looked so beatuiful but I soon found the latch's too easy to shake open. You can imagine if a light weight gate can swing back and lock itself, how weak the lock feature has to be. I ended up tighting the gate to the point that nobody can open it. I cannot block both doorways like that, so I picked this gate for the other doorway.
I can open and close the gate with one hand while carrying my child in the other. My 18 month old (she is very tall an strong in her age group) cannot open the gate though she can reach the latch, because the latch is very tight. The gate is easy to install and stay in place well. After my child went to bed, I can keep the door open. The openning is narrow, but my husband and I have no problem going through (we are middle size, both at around 150 pounds).
This can be a PERFECT gate, but another mom's review about her child's hand got badly hurt by the tight latch concerns me. I tried myself and feel this type of event may not likely to happen but still possible. Anyway, the door is less dangerous than a regular door. While my child go through bedroom doors everyday and may get her fingers caught by those doors at any time (I need to child proof my doors soon), she rarely tries to go through this gate because she knows that she is not supposed to. I think I will train her to open the gate with both hands when she is old enough. Opening it with one hand is definitly more dangerous for children due to their less mature motor skills. This gate also has an extra tall version that may keep your children's fingers safe a little bit longer.

We bought this product for the bottom of our staircase, which is 54 inches wide. Not many companies offer wide pressure mounted gates and this one provides quite a bit of flexibility with 3 extensions provided. The product was easy to install - took 15 minutes and works great. Our daughter will be safe and we did not have to drill into our banister at both the bottom and top of our staircase.
We would definitely recommend this product.

I wanted to buy one first to see how it worked and looked before buying them for all my doorways. When I took it out of the box I could tell it was well made and expensive looking...not like those old fashion wooden ones I have now. It was pretty easy to install but you MUST read the instructions! When you first take it out of the box you think its broken but its not. It looks that way till you hang it and adjust it properly. I will be back for more.

I bought this gate to keep our puppies in the living room. I used all the extensions since we have a large doorway, it went together quickly and I could do it on my own. I needed a walk-through gate because I'm too short to swing my legs over it and the door on this gate is perfect. The door is a little wider than most baby gate doors and it easily opens and swings. There is a little bar under the door when it's opened but I haven't triped over it yet.
I like the door handle on this gate because it's easy to open when you have full hands, but we haven't used the extra lock that it has. I could see how the extra lock could pinch little fingers like other reviews have said but we dont have any little fingers in the household yet :)
We have moved the gate to other doorways in the house with no problem. When we took off both extensions it fit perfectly in a normal sized doorway.
This is a great gate and I'm glad I bought it, if we need another one any time in the future this is the gate I'll be buying.
